Hi all

I'm going to use my secondary tank (a biOrb 60l) as a smaller possibly species-ralted tank. Any recommendations for small, brightly coloured tropical fish that I can put in there? Would I be best off with a stack of tetras for example? Or could I branch in to cichlids with that tank?

The substrate is the usual biOrb 'rocky' bio-filter stuff, so no fish that like burrowing, please.

How many of the recommended fish could I safely keep in the 60l biOrb? I'm quite interested in 'lots' of smaller fish, hence the possibility of tetras. But the colours of some cichlids intrique me. Maybe some angel fish, instead?

Biorbs are too small for angels & the substate is unsuitable for other cichlids as they like to dig.
Variatus platies or flame tetras would be my choices.
Once fully cycled a 60litre could hold about ten - twelve flame tetras or eight-ish platies.

hmmm
small schooling tetra that is bright and suitable for one of those horrid things...thinks....

Ah I have it
green neon tetra (after it has matured)
see the fish index for a profile of them.

I second the flame tetras or really any group of small tetras. Maybe mosquito rasboras or dwarf rasboras. I wouldn't get any livebearers unless you're willing to rehome fry on occassion.

what about some red zebra danios? they look pretty cool, or like bloo said endlers or even guppys :D

Killifish or Endlers ? :)

Any particular sub-genre of killifish? I don't know anything about these creatures - apart from the fact that they like to jump! How big do they get? How many could be safely kept in a 60l biOrb? They do look rather colourful...

Can the mozzy rasboras and dwarf roasboras be kept together? again, how many would be happy in the 60l tank?

My local aquarist shop in Belfast has a BiOrb on display and in it he has Cardinal tetras and Lampeyes and it is a pretty impressive sight.
