Does anyone know any thing about them and if so can they go into a brackish setup. also how big can they get?

Lionfish are saltwater fish and need a full marine setup. Check the saltwater sections for more info.

lionfish are a marine fish and needs a fully cycled marine tank.
they are also predators and will eat any small fish and crustaceans.
they also have spines that are venomous.
they do best, but not solely in a species tank(a tank specific to one fish).

the big fan fins and spines r not as delicate as they may appear, there front fins and spines r actualy used for sweeping fish to its mouth

I would not suggest getting one until you've had a lot of experience with Saltwater. They are highly venomous and dangerous to care for. While it won't kill you to get stung, it will require a trip to the hospital. They also are somewhat difficult to care for compared to Freshwater.

Cool thanks for the info guys and don't worry i an not planing on getting one atleast not in the near future :p
