I have just started a saltwater fish tank and have live rock and will soon add coral. I purchased aqualite with 2-64 watt Actinic and 2-65 watt 10,000k straight pin compact fluorescent lamps. Each of these two types of lights can be turned seperately, I am wondering how long I should keep each on, in ternms of simulating sunrise and daylight and sunset.

On a timer.
14 hours for morning night
12 hours for day.

mine are

10 AM mornings come on
11AM day come on
11PM day go off
12 PM night go off

I have metal halides, T8's and T5's on my reef and they go on/off in this sequence.

8:30 AM Blue T5's ON
11:00AM Metal halides and T8's ON
9:00PM Metal halides and T8's OFF
12:00 T5 Blues OFF

With yours, I'd have the main white lights on for about 10hours a day, with the blues going on and off an hour either side.
