hey there,

I want to know at this moment i run 3 x 30 watt 10 000k normal flourescents ( T8)
1 x 15 watt 50/50 ( maybe make this also atnic or 10 000K)
1 x 30 watt Atnic

is that ok for a tank with a depth of 50 cm or 500 mm deep ? this is a normal 4 feet glass tank..
i have the following corals

shrooms
anthelia
xenia
green star polyps
zoanthids
sarcophyton
finger leather

they all are open nicely and starting to get polyps growing from them, only had them for 2 days so still new, i have zoos a bit higher in the tank that doesnt open nicely and a frag with 4 small zoos on them thats on the sanbed are opening up nicely, can tthe light be to much to the top ? maybe move the other rcok down to substrate ?

enough is enough. Watts tell us little without knowing the reflectors, how high of the water, water clarity ect. PAR is the measurment, watts are just one of the myrid of factors getting us the PAR (photosynthetic available radience).

for the most part any reef light is able to grow most reef critters... how fast and at what color now thats when you "need" (quotations to emphisize the lack of need) to get specific.

Good flow
water quality
feeding fish so they poo so the corals have bacteria to eat

all more importiant than the "right" lighting.

not all corals filter feeds and eat bacteria.... I would get more light since leathers love light IME.
