i can't even imagine how many of these questions you must see but i hope you'll answer 1 more.

i'm about to start a standard 20 gal us nano. i really don't have a lot of money so i def cannot go with MH. so i was thinking about this:

i'm not sure it will do the job tho. i don't plan on having many sps's or clams if any but i want the option. i would like the hardware i buy to have the capability of supporting pretty much anything that will fit in the tank.

would this fixture do the job? if not can anyone make any reccomendations?

thanks in advance

i will for 2x 65 watt 50/50.. but even with that amount of light clams and sps is not recommended, maybe a squamosa clam and the bigger the better and also feed it then now and again..

PC lighting is great for softies and most LPS in a 20long. Anything else won't look good at all and you'll be kicking yourself for buying that light. If I were you I'd look for a local reef club and try to find some used halides or T5s.

Will this light be going in a hood or not?

Thanks for the replies. :)

i didn't really think it would work either but i had to get other opinions just to be sure.

i'm not entirely sure what you mean by a hood. were i to get that fixture i would've just used the legs it comes with and put it on top of the tank.

i want the freedom to try any type of coral will fit and that light fixture won't cut it. so i guess i'll have to save a bit more and longer.

that's a good idea for the reef club. i'll do that but if that doesn't work do you think this one will do the job?

You can get a MH HQI fixutre that clips onto the back of the tank and cantalevers over the tank. With a 150W halide you could support the light requirements of most corals.

Something like this: Coralife HQI

Ox :good:

regardless of heat it's the price that i can't deal with. the $220 for the t-5 fixture is out of my league. there's not much chance in getting a more expensive one without winning the lottery.
