Lighting

I am off to get some live rock next week now my tank has cycled. How long do i have to keep my lighting on for for? I have an Arcadia3 series with Metal halide with two Rx7's. And do i have to keep them all on or just the halide or the Rx7's? And do i put the lighting on from day 1?

8-10 hours is a typical light cycle. People will often simulate rising and setting suns with flourescents on before the halides and off after.
