Lighting Prices

hey guys/girls
im looking to upgrade my lighting so i can keep some corals... does anyone know a basic price of 2 T5 bulbs and the power unit ? i need the bulbs about 2ft long and to fit under my tank hood. im not looking for any wich sit above the tank without a lid on or anything. just something simple i can fit under my hood or rest on top of the tank. seen some T5 kits for about £30 but it doesnt say if the bulbs are included or not. cheers

I bought these items of ebay and cut them up to go in my Aquaone UFO 700 hood as it worked out cheaper than buying after market units and more fun with a grinder and a dremmel.

The triple version was the easiest to cut up as the lights where all in a row at just under 2' where the quad light lamps was stagered so that took a little more fitting in the hood 8) .

You have to be patient I,ve seen them go for the £50 mark, but if you bide yoour time you can get a bit of a bargain .

Also don,t worry about them coming from Germany I,ve had 3 items from this seller and they have all been delivered within 5 working days 8)

ok i phoned lf's today... told them i need a 2ft t5 or t8 light tube and the power source to turn them on... one guy quoted me £125. another said the power source from £15 to £30 depending on what watt tubes and the t8 light about £15. £50 sounds about right to but £125 ??? im really confused about what i actually need now lol. all i want is a 2ft bulb i guess about 50 watt or something close to that and the power supply to run it. i dont want it hanging over the tank or anything just hidden away under my hood

The 4 tube one has all you need to run 4 24w VHO T5,s , Tubes, ballast and end caps in 2 pairs so with P&P it cost me under £40. You could pay that just for the tubes

All you need to do is strip them down and fix them in your hood.

I WOULD LIKE TO ADD IF YOUR NOT HAPPY WITH DOING ELECTRICS GET SOME ONE QUALIFIED

thanks again mate i had another look and found some for £50 with 3 or 4 t5 bulbs and the ballast etc. and some from germany with 4 t5 bulbs and everything else i need, really nice designs too and like 99p with 1 day left and only 1 bid. they even had a halite one with nearly 200w still at 99p and only £15 postage. think il bid on one pretty soon. il post up some links of the 2 i like later in the week and see wich one is best
