Lighting in a made up hood

One thing I was thinking of doing in a tank with a tank I need to build a hood for, was to incorporate three low voltage light bulbs 3 x 25 watt halogen (thru a transformer) as I have no live plants in either of my existing tanks and I am not likely to have any in this new tank.....would this type of lighting 3 x 25 watt halogens be any good or would they be bad for the fish....

I have posted this here as well as a reply to someone as I would like opinions.
