Mine is MA near Taunton. There is also another at a garden centre that have loads of their tanks to buy filled with different fish to show what they are like filled which is good.
My most local has a 6 foot tank which changes now and again behind the counter. It was discus with a lovely rock and plant display. Now it has goldfish and is 3/4 full with a waterfall display. Looks nice.
Then watermarque has displays as you come in, not amazing but the angel tank is cool, they are massive angels, nice to see their potential size shown to customers.

Size of tank and fish size is an important factor. When I walk in and see a display tank, what makes me go wow is the size of the tank (gotta be huge) and the fish have to be premium colour and size.

Frisbie aquatics near my place are cichlid specialists.

That is their display tank.

The Maidenhead I did my work experience at had an 8'x4'x4' display with a 2 foot mbuna puffer, a few rays, a Black Ghost Knife fish, a rehomed plec and some seveums, looked awesome. Also had a 30l with some bumble bee gobies, as they had no brackish system and therefore the BBG wouldn't survive.

In living reef aquatics in dartford there is a lovely marine display tank, it must be about 7-8 ft long. Last time I was there the corals were vibrant and colourful, the fish looked in great health and were buzzing in between the tons of LR, it really is just a head turner as soon as you walk in.

The marine tanks or the planted tanks that obviously run co2 with a complete floor covered in various carpeting plants with nice little neons or other small tetras, and moss covered wood that just looks really comfy and squashy ;)

waterzoo in peterborough have a huge marine display tank that looks stunning with some big puffers etc

also the display tank at wharf is pretty basic but the fish make up for it. huge gouramis and catfish that you cant miss :hyper:

Anyone seen the marine display tank at p@h Stockport, now that thing is big!

swallow aquatics in rayleigh had some cool display tanks last time i was there , a massive reef tank , and african lake tank which must of been 6ft cube , and a caimen setup .

That swallows is generally pretty good for tanks. They have a nice selection of fish as well.

Oasis aquatics had a nice rainbowfish setup last time i was there. Had a few other bits in it aswell, loaches i think.

James

Used to be an amazing Rainbow display, beautifully planted. It was that tank that made me want a rainbows. But they stripped it down and replaced it with a Fluval Profile but with all fake plants. Just not the same anymore.

Anyone seen the marine display tank at p@h Stockport, now that thing is big!

James

It's impressive that one, have you seen the huge freshwater display at Maidenhead Ashton?

Maidenhead Aq @ wembley has a few large and very good display tanks. One has 20+ big red bellied piranha and a fake human skeleton for decor!

Generally I like to see very large display tanks with large fish in them- something I will never have the chance to keep myself.

I've not James but considering it's not too far away from me, I might have a ride up there one day

I still remeber an Aquarium shop in Mackay (Queensland) that I adored as a preteen. They had a huge tank set in the front counter with a large barramundi and I think a couple of huge pleco's. I mostly remeber being so WOWED because of the size of the tank and the subded lighting that really set off the large lumps of timber etc in the tank. The whole counter was in a L shape and where the tank was, was at the very front of the shop so first thing you saw but not likely to accidently kicked or bumped while making your purchase which was generally done over the solid end of the counter. They also had a fully planted tank with gravel, sand, charcol etc raised high at the back of the tank and sloping to a thinner depth towards the front of the tank. In it they had from memory mostly neon tetras and it looked like a submerged forest where the fish darting in and out of the weed took the place of parrots. Really beautiful.

I am loving your replies!! Please keep the thoughts up! Doesnt have to be big main displays, nanos too!!

Would love to hear more details on a 'display tank you would love to see'. I go on basis of what i would love but cant justify (species tank for seahorses or brackish pipefish for me!!)...

But i love hearing your ideas on whats going.... big seems to be the factor which is a terrible shame if it is only size thats standing out in peoples minds....

im sure there is a saying here...

"its not the size that matters but what you do with it!!!"

More ideas on layouts? Tanks you'd think would suit specifit set ups?
