Wow, maybe its me but i thought most folks would know that puffer is toxic and dangerous to eat if not prepared right....

You'd have thought, but apparently not in Brazil.

Brazil has some regions with very low education, and very little in the way of outside influence.  I wonder where these folks lived.  It sounds like they weren't in the deep jungle, because they mention having a car.  But, nonetheless, not everywhere is as educated.   They may have heard that its a 'luxury' item (it certainly seems as though they were gathering for a celebratory type meal... a chance to share 'the finer things' in life...) but didn't understand the full dimension of what makes it a luxury item.

Such a shame.  Hopefully they all recover.   Any updates that you've seen on the family?

"According to Metro, there is no known cure for the poison, which eventually suffocates the victim while they are still awake. However, doctors can fight the poison by quickly emptying the stomach and feeding patients activated charcoal to bind the toxin." ~ Real World Survivor

Doesn't look the most promising :/
I had a google and couldn't find any updates after the 3rd of November.

I am here to announce that I have returned from my vacation.
Unfortunately the guy looking after my tanks managed to break my timers some how and didn't turn off the lights properly. So I have much algae in my axolotl tank. It looks ridiculous I'll post a pic tomorrow. Thankfully Axolotls are not particularly tidy animals so they did not mind the sty they were living in. :)

Found this update:

Eleven people in Brazil who mistakenly ate a poisonous pufferfish all recovered, and left the hospital, according to a new report of the case.

...

By a few days later, the patient's bodies had metabolized and excreted the tetrodotoxin, and they were discharged from the hospital.

FYI...

Pufferfish meat is popular in several Brazilian states. There are ways to eat it safely, and those who get sick often recover, unless they are far from medical care, Haddad said.
"The fishermen communities know the risks," he said. "This has to do with poverty, with the difficulties in which they live."

Evil girl - I'd got this thing all sewn up - I'd have gotten away with it, too, if it wasn't for that pesky girl. ;)

Well, she's given everyone else the opportunity to steal it from you.

Btw, is anyone else wondering what on earth is going on in aviation lately? It's feels like every month there's another major tragedy in the skies!
