I was wondering if anybody here actually has some or knows where I can get cichlids from lake victoria? :/

My lfs has some every now and then....pretty rare and expensive however....

I would check out Aquabid though....and would also suggest trying to breed them as the population of many species in the lake are either extinct or quickly dwindling due to the introduction of the Nile Pike.

Would be good on ya.

I have some fish from victora can't remembe the name but ill go to the LSF tomorrow and get the name of them and post on here i got 4 of them for around $8 aussie dollars

Most lfs have limited tank space so they stock what they think will sell. If you are after anything a little differant just approach one of the staff and ask them if they take orders. Most do and normally can get all but the rarest of fish in within a week or two.

lake victoria species are very hard to come by. most are on the endangered species list. the most common of them are the haplochromis obliquedens. i have these and ruby greens. they can be kept with some of the malawis since the two lakes are similar. they are mouthbrooders and best kept in groups of a minimum 3 females per every male.

you usually can find them on aquabid. some of the online breeders also carry victorians.

I was wandering through the pet section Walmart one day(only looking at the dog stuff, honest) and happened to notice something a little unusual in the "mixed cichlid" tank. It was a Haplochromis (Astatotilapia) aeneocolor.

Of course I bought it. Other than that one I have never seen any Vics at my LFS.
I did see one Malawi eye-biter at Walmart last weekend, but I didn't get it because the one I have now would probably eat it. It was pretty small, and mine is pretty big;)
