My kribensis pair have fry. I saw them for the first time today, when the two adults kribs escorted them out of the nest for the first time.

However... I also discovered today the beginnings of what I think is a white spot outbreak.

I introduced a shoal of neons last week without quarentining (I know, I'm stupid). They looked so healthy but obviously weren't.

I intend to dose the tank with an 'Esha' copper based treatment (contains malachite green). Will this hurt the krib fry?

I also intend to raise the temparature (it's currently running at 27 degrees C) will that hurt them?

Also, if I did a water change, would it upset them?

Your water change is advised, but be cautious not to suck up fry! I am not sure about the temp, and when adding the water back, be sure to be very gentle!
Also, I'm not sure about the meds, and you're not stupid, you're only as smart as you think you are.

I would go ahead and dose. The med's shouldnt hurt the fry. I have dosed a tank with Copper before(with fry in the tank), and nothing happend. Do a water change. Make sure you don't have any Carbon in the tank.

thankyou, that really puts my mind at rest. I have dosed the copper treatment, at a half dose, because I have scaleless catfish and loaches. I also did a 50% water change, and I'm slowly increasing the temparature to 30 degrees C.

so far, they appear to be ok with the treatment. Mum and dad are taking them on little trips out of their cave, and they seem quite happy. There must be arond 60 of them!

My krib parents are maniacs!!

It's a 100gal heavily planted community tank, and they've taken the fry on a trip from one end to the other! Over the cave containing 4 huge striped raphael catfish, past the angel fish... the fry seem ok though, there are still alot of them. My little female krib can scare off a fully grown angel fish! It's quite something to watch.

Kribs are very intresting fish. Just be glad they arent crazy like convicts! Or there would be no catfish or Angels!

The white spot treatment (at half dose combined with an increased temperature of 30 degrees C) has been effective and it turns out, also safe to use with fry.

I still have 5 fry left, who are getting bigger!
