This is my first general question, I am tempted to purchase a pair of knife fish, anything I should know about these amazing looking fish? My tank is populated with general community fish, but I would like something a bit different and exotic. Any thoughts or knowledge on keeping these bizarre looking but beautiful fish? KnightPirate.

I have a pair of black ghost knifes, and as ive learnt on here, when they get bigger, they are likely to eat any fish that would fit in their mouth. I also have a pair of neon tetras....

Yes i'm afraid so, the black ghost knife fish needs a tank over 200gals.

wow 200gal now... seems everytime someone brings up the tank size for ghost knifes it gets bigger and bigger!

started off round 70 gal hahah.....

it was agreed 4x2x2 is adaquet which i belive is well under 200gal...

200 gallons for a bgk? I think not...

You're looking at atound a 4x2x2 as an ideal minimum once they are adults to allow turning. And there are some issues with keeping more than one, I wouldn't want 2+ in less than a 6x2x2.

Anything smaller than their mouth they will eat. Axiom: big fish eat little fish. SH
