Khuli Loach...

im looking for a bottom feeder for my gravel tank and love the khuli loachand my LFS has just gotten them inand out for sale. question is, do you think this fish would be ok with a gravel bottom? I'd prefer to give it sand, but i dont wish to give this tank a sand bottom

IF the gravel is small they should be fine

each bit of gravel is anywhere between 3mm an 6mm diameter. there is a very small (say, about 6" by 5" sand section that i would be willing to increase to say 8x12 but i feel that this may still be too small, but then its only to satisfy the burying need... he can still wander up top around the rset or even bury in the gravel if he so wishes...

thinking maybe zebra loaches might be better, though i dont like them as much... lol all in the name of vain.

I may just go with the zebra loach if they are better with the gravel/sand (even then i know gravel can be bad for the barbels) and wait till i get the 4footer sand tank up for the khulis. but then i was gonna buy a horse faced loach for that tank... hell i can get both..

Kuhlis don't bury themselves, they use sand like cories do, to sift around in it looking for food.

ah so they should be ok with the gravel - it is easy to move around and light - the dwarf gouramis enjoy doing it with wee blasts of water...
