hi everyone
i introduced a male and female kerbensis into my tank about 4 months ago in the hope that they would breed. however so far i have not noticed any sign of breeding activity. i have changed the water regularly (every 2 weeks) so that the water is clean, and i have made lots of hiding spots for them. both the female and males belly's are very red and the female appears to be in spawn ( has a marble shaped belly) Also the male seems to chase the female quite a lot.
there are a few things that i'm not sure weather or not would effect there breeding. firstly the males top fin, on its back was damaged when i bought it, however it dose not seem to effect him . secondly there are other types of fish in the tank. the other fish include neon tetras, catfish and a yoyo loach. would any of these spices effect its breeding? i have recently changed the gravel that i had to a fine sandy substrate as i thought that this might help.
if anyone had any infomaton about breeding these fish or have picked up on something that i have been doing wrong then please let me know
