Juwel Rio 240 Filter... Warning

If you use the internal filter supplied with these (I do) be careful! There is a lid that sits on the top which has a hole on the top, I presume its there for ease of lifting it up (you put your finger in it and lift).

I came home today to peer in and see my molly inside the filter looking out at me as if he was in jail! Not sure how long he's been in there but seems he has cut his mouth on the vertical grid at the front.... Ive put a tea coaster ontop now to cover the hole up. The only way he could have got in is if he jumped in somehow! I took the lid off and he jumped straight out.

yea i had a problem with that, i also got the tank 2nd hand and didnt have any adhesive to stick the filter in the tank properly, eventually the filter had enough room for the fish to swim into the filter via the holes. wedged it in properly n did the trick

All Juwel Internal Filter boxes have it well both Trigons and the vision I have had that whole

Thanks for the warning. I am currently cycling the same tank and haven't put my fish in there yet. I will bear this in mind. If you have the optional air diffuser I have heard of a fish getting stuck in it and dying too (not sure how though).

I bought the air diffuser and thought it was rubbish so threw it back in the cupboard. They will all have the hole in the top, yes, its so you can lift it off with your finger.
