I find it really cute that when my Betta, Mattell, wants to rest he wedges himself on top of his heater behind the cord. lol
He's not cold. The tank is at 80F. It's simply his preferred spot to rest.

I had a under gravel filter in my Betta tank and my Betta would sit on top of the air bubble tubes. You sure that he does not want you to fill it up with some wine so he can go for a dip
