ok, so kogen is eating and acting fine..or so i thought.

i was watching earlier and noticed he was rubbing himself on the gravel. it was obvious that he was rubbing.

there are so many symptoms for betta diseases. is there anything i can do as a preventative?

If he's rubbing, it's more than likely parasites.

so what can i do for the guy? like i said he looks and is acting fine other than the rubbing.

should i add more aquarium salt?

It's not available in the UK, but there's plenty of places you can order it online. Just do a google search for "CopperSafe"

Thanks, i was googling for uk :*)

maybe i can find a similar product? so im just looking for external paracite treatments for ich, velvet etc??

thanx for being so patient with my probably obvious questions flautist

ive just had a REALLY close look at him an i can see little white"hair's"on him...not a lot, are these the said paracites?

should i be worried? :(

Yes the hairs are probably parasites. Coppersafe is a Mardel product and not available in the UK. I would suggest that you ask Wilder in the Emergency forum. We had some other members have trouble with a hair like parasite that she was involved with. It took a specified treatment.

Coppersafe is fairly specific to ich. This doesn't sound like ich. It is best to start with a good diagnosis to get the right med.

But that said, frequent water changes and salt are always good. The water changes will reduce the presence of the parasite and help the fish's immune system concentrate on the problem.
