My snails do that all the time. Either they are mating or just having fun. :)
 
My nerite snails do it too and leave eggs on the side of the tank. I guess I could make some brackish water and see if they can make :wub: baby snails.;)
 
My nerite always do this too, when they’re finding algae.
 
What does that mean? Finding algae on each others backs? Is the algae high up and they are giving one another a boost?

I actually saw my male shrimp grab a female, look like he was fighting with her and in a matter of seconds, let her go. That’s something usually not caught by the human eye.
 
Hey, that reminds me...male vs female
(Haha pun related to your post not intended but kind of funny). How does one tell the difference in shrimp.
