as title says really. i have 1 pearl gourami but should i get another? if so another male or female? i dont really have room in the tank for 3 so 2 females and 1 male isnt an option i think
ive only kept dwarf gouramis in the past and had 3 males but removed 2 and the tank was at peace again
tank is a fluval roma 240L, planted, filtered by 1x Rena XP3 and 1x Fluval FX5 with the following fish -

denisonii barbs X6
cardinal tetra X19
rummynose tetra X9
SAE X1
L333 X2
polkadot loach X3
otocinclus X3
twig catfish X1
pearl gourami X1

the twig catfish, 6x cardinals and the pearl gourami are all in a quarentine tank at the minute before adding to the tank.

I think they can be ok on their own. I know with Honeys it's ok but prob better for them if they have a friend. So I'd say if you have a female then get another female and if you have a male leave it as one :)

as i thought matt you have a male

Is that your one Matt? Lovely!

I'd keep him on his own though, unless you can house 2 females. My male Honey did actually harass my female a little (she died this morning though :( )even though they're not supposed to.

So if I get anymore at the weekend I'll be getting 2 females.

I had 2 female pearl gouramis and one nipped to other to the point where I had to remove the weak one. Now my remaining female is much more friendly . I suggest keeping it as 1, then there will be no aggresion

definitely keep it alone. gouramis don't need company, they'll just bicker all the time.
