When I got my Jewel 240 I kept my ehime external filter but I ran out of sockets for my air pump.I missed having bubbles in my tank.
l bought a Jewel diffuser. This is a great alternative to an air pump, a bit fiddly to get the correct amount of air using the valve, once set it is really good and it does make a little amount of background noise but it is hardly noticeable and easily sorted.
I would recommend this as an alternative way of making bubbles.
