How fast should a normal JD grow? I have had mine for a week now and they have grown noticeably!!! I have 3 altogether, 2 have grown by around half an inch where as the other one doesn't seem to have.

Some people say they are quick growers, others say they are slower. IME my male Jack took about 18-24 months to go from a 1" juvi to the 8" fish he is today. So relatively slow IMO, there certainly are quicker growers out there.

Keep their water clean, feed them a good diet and they'll pack on the pounds quickly enough :)

Cheers James, What is the best food to feed them? I have the cichlid gold, but obviously the pellets are a bit big for them. I would like a good quality flake to feed to all my fish, but obviously something to enhance the colour of them too and the growth of my Jacks.

Also noticed that my Sevs i had off you haven't really altered in colour to that in the pics i posted when i got back home with them. Is this normal or is something wrong?

Cheers.

A good varied diet is important with bigger cichlids, more so than having 'a' good pellet to feed them. I feed mine amixture of frozen bloodworm, daphnia, brineshrimp. Hikari Cichlid Gold and Staple. I have two sizes of granule for these as i have a greedy Oscar also. TetraDoromin Food Sticks and flake, my Jacks go nuts for these. I also offer chopped musscle once in a blue-moon and occasionally i give them live river shrimp which they seem to appreciate.

I'm not sure on the Sevs mate. They may just be taking a little longer to adjust to your water parametres. The one i kept took about a week to colour up to normal, so i don't know.

Could i trouble you to get a picture of yours so i can compare it to mine? I also feed frozen bloodworm, daphnia, brine shrimp etc. Also add some algae wafers for the bottom feeders which the sevs love! They also pick at courgette and peas when i add them.

Cheers.

When i get a spare 5 minutes tommorow i shall get a picture up of my Sev for you. Algae Wafers? Funny that, my one goes straight for them when i feed different forms of food at once. My female Jack loves them too.

Thanks James, appreciate it mate. I'm not worries about them, they seem happy enough and are plenty active, just good to have some comparison, especially when they are pretty much the same batch.

Chopped mussels, scallops and prawn would be a good addition to their diet. My fish go crazy for them.
