How long does it take (approx) for java moss to attach to driftwood? I have just placed some of this moss to my wood today and tide the moss to it with some cotton.

Java Moss doesn't really attach, you will have to tie it down, you may get the occasional few strands which do take hold however, but the majority wont.

So are you syaing that I will have to leave the string on there for good??

Thanks for that bit of info. I did use cotton, but I used white and it stands out abit. I`ll leave it for today but I will change the cotton to a black one tommorrow.

One more question. My sons tank is a 3 foot 150litre/39Gal. Will a single 2ft flurocent tube (cool white 18W) be enough light source to grow java ferns/ moss and hornwort?

Mine grows like mad in my 50L jewl tank with a day lite 15w lamp. I did however get a £8 reflecter from flar bay and since then it has grown far more

Thats good to hear. Now I can start designing a hood for this tank to keep my sons hands out and give these plants (which just went in today) some extra light. I`m sure the fish will like it as well.
Thanks for the advice and quick responses.

Much appreciated.
