I just got a clump of this and wonder if it is ok to just put on the bottom of the tank unattached to anything
is it ok to wrip pieces of it off the clump and put on a rock or piece of wood? or does it have to be burried some in the gravel??
thank you
karen

Doesn't need to be buried; in fact, I'd guess it would probably rot if it was.

Basically, you can do whatever you want with it. I've got some tied down, and some that just floats slightly above a piece of slate.

The main reason people tie it down is so that it will eventually attach itself to whatever it's tied to.
