I thought that java moss would eventually attach itself to stuff... and I was under the impression that it would do it in 3 weeks or so. But I've had my java moss sitting in a jar with water and shells and it isn't attaching - it's still free drifting. It's been maybe a month now. At first I tied it down to the shells, but it didn't seem to do anything, so next I tried lowering the water level to a bit below the tops of the shells, so that the java moss just lays there on its own, but that hasn't worked either.

Does java moss really attach to things? If so what am I doing wrong? Any help please? I don't want it to free drift in the tank really, that would make water changes difficult and such...

Edit: Oops, well, I saw the java moss sticky, I really should have read that first - I'm sorry. I've determined that I haven't used enough tying-down-ness and I haven't waited long enough either. I only used a couple of strings and the moss wasn't laying flat.

Can I delete this somehow?
