the more i read about java moss - the more it seems to be a plant to beware of if not to ignore altogether.
it seems to take over plants and aquarium - block filters and generally cause a nuisance. its good for fry and some bottom feeder but what is the consensus on using this plant - i received some today and placed it in the tank but now after more research considering removing it before it is too late! :/

What is the consensus on any plant? It looks great when thriving, and as you said gives shelter to fry etc.

look at that beautiful tank in my avator (on the left) thats all java moss.

i dont know what everyone else has told you but its one of my favourite plants. :D

as long as you keep it under control it will be fine, and look great :)

A plant to really stay away from: duck weed. ;)

I have not really ever heard of problems with java moss (well, just talking to customers where I work/ reading the threads on here). I, of course, don't claim to know much about these plants personally. :p

Java moss can be prolific but it's big enough to be removed from the tank easily if you don't like it.

If you want a messy plant try riccia, especially dwarf riccia.
