I have a large java fern that I bought in a pot. It's not growing as well as the java I have attached to a little piece of bogwood, and the pot takes up too much space.

Can I take it out of the pot so I can attached it too bogwood?

If so, whats the best way to remove it from the pot? It appears to have foam or something in the pot.

Could there be more than one in the pot? I paid $12.99 for it. The non potted one I bought from Petsmart was only $3.99.

Sorry for the foolish questions, I'm a live plant newbie.

Thank you :)

If it's just one of those plastic pots you may want to try just cutting the pot off it. You can cut some of the roots and it will still be fine, just try to avoid damaging the rhizome (green 'stem' everything is growing out of). If you have more than one rhizome in there you have more than one plant.

Don't worry, the plant is bullet-proof.

I remove all of the wool/foam that is around the roots - I don't want that crud in my tank - then attach it to whatever you want like you did with the other one. :D

Thanks for the advise end and jams. :)

I cut off the plastic pot and removed foam. I ended up with 3 average and 2 small ones. I tied them on to 4 small pieces of bogwood. ;)
