Alright i have 2 questions:

the first is the java fern in my 35g planted is never green and healthy looking.

it always has dead leaves and brown stuff on some of the leaves. dont get me wrong. some of the leaves are nice and green but i prefer and entirely nice plant.

My 35g has 2.6 wpg, with co2 and i dose the recommended amount of flourish excel after each waterchange.

Heres a pic of the java fern, how can i make it healthier?

Alright second question:

I got some wisteria from my local fish store but it was buy 2 get 1 plant free so ipicked up something that id dint know what it was but figured it would get bye in the 35g.

Well all the leaves are slowly getting chewed to shreds by all my malaysian trumpet snails. Im pretty sure its them since before i went to bed i observed a leaf that had a snail on it. The snail had just crawled on. The next morning there wasnt much left of that leaf :sly:

Now i finally took it out and filled that space with cabomba (which they leave alone thank god.) and its floating in my 90g piranha tank which only has 105 watts.

I was wondering if it could survive in the 90g floating around? If it needs to be planted i could do that too.
The 90g has no c02 and is low light. So far ive only tried putting in java moss, java fern and floating cabomba and frog bit. Its all doing great. I might put in an extra 80 watts but in no time soon. :good:

:hyper: Thanks for the future info guys and gals! :hyper:

Are you using a trace mix other than the excel and do you know the PO4 and NO3 levels in the tank? While what FKMN says it right, it could also be due to a lack of nutrients, esp with the lighting and CO2 you've got.

Sam

from what i am reading you have co2 AND your dosing flourish excel...

other then that your not adding anything else.. if i am wrong ignore this info.. if not then heres what my advice..

1. you need trace elements in your tank. seachem flourish.. cmx+b... there a number of products out there
2. you need to add some major nutrients, nitrate, phosphate, potassium (which is normally supplied by dosing the other ferts).
3. Do away with excel, i don't see a reason to use it if you have a co2 system. your growth rate is prolly so fast that i bet your levels of macronutrients are near 0.

that will help your plants, but its also normal to have a few brown leaves. remember parts of the plants die off and new parts grow back. as fknm said show tanks are normally cut all the time.

goodluck

Alright so what micronutrients do you think i would need?

your right, its all i dose. just c02, lighting and excel.

Alright i just looked up the Tonina fluviatilis and its nothing like what i have.

i think i miss led you guys. ignore the fluffy stuff on the right of the picture since thats just cabomba.

look at the left, THAT is the plant. its like that for the whole plant.

alright ill go get some seachem flourish.

and what about the plant? can you guys I.D it?

yah it looks like that, but after some research i think it might be moneywort

black you should pick up a nitrate and phosphate test kit and test your levels. You might find that your going to need to start adding some, wether its through liquid or dry ferts is your choice but you might want to add some, especially since you have so much co2.

alright, im going to the lfs, big als.

what should i pick up? so far im getting seachem flourish like someone suggested.
