I got some elodea from my LFS and I noticed something hitched a ride.
Anyone know what it is?

Looks like the tip off a clump of Cabomba. You've planted it correctly, so it should soon shoot up. They can grow up to 4" a day, and its true believe me haha. Also helps oxygenate the water this plant, so its rather usefull.

no plants needs C02 if your light is low enough (if that makes sense lol). Low light means less demand on a plant, which mean slower growth. This plant will shoot up in no time.

This thing will shoot like a rocket to the moon in a tank where algae could struggle. Slight exageration, but hopefully gives you an indication as to quite how vigorous this thing can grow.

That's good news, my water has a naturally high phosphate content. I need all the nutrient sponges I can get :hyper:

It could be a piece of hornwort (Ceratophyllum demersum).

Well, they had both of those plants at the LFS so I guess I just have to wait and see. Is there anything special I need to do if it is hornwort?

it looks more like hornwort to me also, also, hornwort is very easy plant with little needs so it should be fine with out any additives, high light, supplements, etc.

Not sure if i fall under the 'high light' catagory. I have a 36" fluorescent tube sitting on top of a 29

Defo Hornwort 100% prob one of the fastest growing aquatic plants.

Do you think i can grow it floating? It's not doing much sitting on the bottom of my tank.
