I dont have a quarantine tank, I had trouble enough getting this one started since christmas

I have one fish that seems to be kind of violent, would he respond to a "time out"
I figured I could put in either an isolation chamber in the main tank, or put in some kind of jar?
How long would you be able to isolate a fish in a contaier if it was filled with water from the tank?

If none of this sounds kosher, how would one go about setting up an isolation tank?
I could buy a small tank, 2.5g-5g?
heater/filter and clone with gravel from the main tank?

If you get a quarantine tank established/cycled, do you have to keep some kind of fish in there all the time to keep the bacteria happy or will the bacteria die off if there is nothing in it?

What sort of fish do you have that you are thinking of issolating? Some fish are just agressive towards others by nature, or because theres somthing wrong with the tank enviroment or stocking. If you have a quarentine tank you will either need to have a fish in there 24/7 to keep it cycled or simply keep the tanks filter in the main tank all the time and just move it out to the quarentine tank when its needed- personally though if you are getting a quarentine/hospital tank i would go for at least 10gals as the same rules really apply to quarentine tanks with stocking, even if its only temporary- 2-5gals just wont really be able to hold much at all without seriously stressing the fish out.
