Is This Normal?

My red betta has sliver on his gills. I change his water every week. (Sometimes sooner) His only 11 months. Does anyone know if he has a virsus?

Are you sure you're not just looking at his gill plates?

I'm not sure, but when he sees a female betta it will spread under his mouth.

Yeah thats called flaring its absolutely normal with bettas to flare at other bettas since they seem to be a threat to them.

Ya, it's normal. Some of my betta's "flarrers" are different colors then they. I have a black betta with red, blue with red, white with orange, yellow with see thru, etc. I'm pretty sure he is fine.

Another thing that scares me is he sleeps 2/3 of his day away.

what do you mean by sleeps ? Laying on the bottom of the tank ?

If so i wouldn't say it was normal for it to spend that much time laying on the bottom. All of mine are fairly active all day long.

what kind of tank is he in?
it's not normal for them to mope around on the bottom.
mine did that for a week or so for no apparent reason
water change & salt and TLC, and he's all better now
