Just wanted to make sure the ID is correct. I got him for my 200Gal and if I understand correctly he will grow very big? How long does it take them to reach full size?

Thank you!

Yep, sure looks like a Gibbiceps to me! He should grow pretty fast, and up to 28 inches ( i think!).  What a great fish though, good personality, likes to be out and about and still peaceful.  Wish I had a big enough tank!

awesome thanks! Yes, he is really very friendly! I am trying to get him to eat his veggies

He seems to prefer steeling the tropical fish food for now!

That's probably what they fed him at the shop you bought him from... he'll come around :)

how lucky to be able to house such a big pleco, bet you cant wait till hes big.

how big is he now?

Success!!!

He is officially a veggie addict now! Just to make sure I am doing things right - I am putting a new piece of veggie every 24hrs and leaving it in until the 'fresh' one arrives. Is this okay? I left it in the tank all day today and he kept going back to it. My tank has very little algae.

I also love his eyes! It's one of the things that drew me to him. I cannot wait to see him grow! Right now he is quite small, you can see in the relation to the zucchini

Also, is it a problem that the send seems to stink to him? It is a sand which is good for bottom drawlers and is very soft, however, it seems to be easily disturbed. Just don't want it to irritate his slime coat.

Sand is fine but as you've noticed, they get disturbed a lot. Smooth, fine pebbles is good also as they love cleaning every grain of pebble there is.

He seems to have a torn fin since the first pic. What happened? Lol

I got this sand because I have cory cats in there which seem to prefer very smooth and fine sand. Now I am regretting it because it's a huge mess.

I think the fin is from him exploring the tank and trying to fit where he isn't suppose to fit! His thing is trying to clean the roots of my large anubia. I don't even know how he gets under there!

Man... not too sure my husband is gonna go for "but honey, I NEED a 200g tank so I can have a sailfin"........

My husband recently told me my hobby is 'lame' and that I should get a salt water tank with a giant puffer he saw! 'now THAT'S a fish'. He's now satisfied when I told him Gordon will become the size of a small dog

So here I was thinking maybe Gordon wasn't getting enough food because the mollies with him are little terrorists when it comes to food, when today I see this:

Clearly he is eating SOMETHING! I have a feeling he is also pigging out on his new driftwood! Does his belly look too big? His poop is rather scary.

She doesn't have her fin up, but is she a leopard/spotted sail fin? She seems to not be getting bigger than 4"
