Is this a Platy or Swordtail?

Is this a Swordtail or a Platy?

(Sorry the picture isn't too great -- the little booger wouldn't hold still long enough to "pose" and my digital camera is too slow.)

It was in a tank at Petsmart that was labeled "Assorted Swordtails" -- they had 3 tanks labeled that way, but not a single one of them (in any of the tanks) had a "sword" on their tail. Or are they essentially the same thing?

I'm confused, haha. )

That's a female Painted swordtail! Only the males have the "sword."

Yeah only males have swords, yeah thats deff. a female swordy.

Ok thanks. There WERE males in the tank though, but they had no swords. How weird.

Do swordtails get along with platies? Are they closely related and will they breed with eachother?

Swordtails and platies get along geat together! I have a swordtail/platy cross, so they could breed with each other.

Sasha....could I get you to post a pic of your Sword/Platy Cross??? I've honestly never seen one and would LOVE to
