Hello TFF members! :)

I was at a Pet Store today, and I saw Sand Blasted grape vine wood in the reptile section. It said that it was clean, and made for reptiles and fish, I just wanted to double check with you guys. I can provide a link if needed. Thank you for your time! :)

(P.S. It was pretty heavy, so I assume it would sink in a tank.)

In answer to the question in this thread title...NO. Grapewood can be toxic in fish tanks.

On another forum a few years back we had a lengthy discussion on this wood and fungus. I had at the time boought a piece of branch-type wood and it developed a white fungus which nearly killed the fish. Others suggested the wood was likely grapewood as this is apparently common. Same individuals also said never to use grapewood.

grape vine is a soft wood and will rot much quicker than a hard wood such malasian driftwood or oak...any wood should be debarked and should be from a dead tree. plus grapevine branches will as byron stated attrack fungus..
