If she is a) new from the store or b) has come into contact with male platies in the last few months then yes, she will be pregnant. Basically platies and guppies are ALWAYS pregnant, it's what they do. There are sticky threads in the livebearers section which show pictures so you can judge how far along.

We have had her around 5/6months and we have a male in the other tank which i have separated her from.
Right okay i will have a look at that.

Thanks very much!!

She is pregnant and I second buying a breeding tank or trap. She is a very nice colored variatus !

Ok, thank you! I will get a breeding tank. Do you know how long it will take until she gives birth?

get some moss for the bottom of the tank, the fry will soon hide their and nibble up any leftover food, liquifry is good for platies also.

She looks quite fat to me so I think it will be soon! I would expect babies in the next week. Remember unless it is a breeding TRAP or NET provide lots of hiding places (live plants)!

Right ok thats great! Thanks i will sort it out! Thanks for your support and help!

Just a tip, if you have or can get hold of a seperate tank (it does not have to be really big) then still get live plants and hiding places so momma does not eat them. A breeding trap can stress the momma out so it is better to get another tank.

Yes i have moved her into a separate tank an intend on gettin some moss balls and plants tonight. Do i have to move her as soon as she has gabe birth?

You do not have to do it as soon as she has given birth because she may not be finished but provide lots of plants and moss balls. I would wait 12-24 hours from when you see the first fry. Unless there is already like 30 then you can put her back in the main tank until she gets fat again.
