Hi all,

Ive just been watching my pregnant female guppy and she has poo'd about 5 times in 10 minutes and swimming around the tank like a nutter, my male guppy wont leave her alone.

Is she about to pop out some babys?

Cheers
Chris

From my experience they tend to go very sluggish just before birth..stop eating and can often be found resting their tail ends
Then they dissapear behind a clump of weed and get on with it.
First off.....You need plenty of weed for her to hide in.
Second is there any chance you can remove the male? Cos he'll want to mate with her a.s.a.p. so won't leave her for a second, this will stress the fish and so she may not be too keen to part with her fry. Not good .. as this can lead to dead fry...and dead mummy fish :-( Plus he'll want to snack on the little darlings as they are being born
If you're sure of your dates and shes kinda square looking front and back end.. then turning up the temp can help bring on the birth .. about 80degrees should do it :)
Have a breeder net ready to catch the babies. A lot get away depending on how many other fish you got in the tank. I like to take a risk and leave the mum in my isolation tank with another fish. Rather than stress the mother by putting her in the breeder net.

Hope you get fry soon :hyper:

Yeah just post a pic if you can, nobody can say without seeing a pic of it cos certains things fish do can be mean many things.
