so currently I am treating my 10 gallon with aquarium salt, as one of my fish needs the treatment. the tank is not normally treated with salt. there are no cherry shrimp in it as of yet.

i'm waiting for the illness on the fish to be resolved, and the treatment hopefully should be done by next week or the week after. i know that aquarium salt does not break down, so once the fish is better i'll slowly start removing the salt through water changes.

i have 3/4 tablespoons of salt in 10 gallons of water. how many water changes do you think it will take for the salt to be mostly gone? and what can the cherry shrimp tolerate? TIA!

A 75% water change will leave 1/4 of the salt in the tank. Another 75% water change will reduce that to 1/16 of the original amount. I think that should be OK, but if you want to be totally sure another 75% water change will leave just 1/64 of the original amount.
