Guess you're asking if its a good idea to keep a male and a female betta splenden in a single tank long term.

Short answer is no, one will kill the other.

When breeding they are only together for a short time..after they're done spawning the female is removed. So as Ch4rlie said, long-term, no, they will kill each other or stress each other out a lot.

It is never a good idea to keep a male betta with another betta (male or female) undivided.  The result would be sickness (from stress/injury), injuries, or at worst death of one/both of the bettas.

When being bred, the bettas have to be carefully monitored and the pair separated not long after the spawn is complete.  Even with careful monitoring, death of one of the individuals is not unheard of.  Both genders are aggressive and females are just as likely to kill a male as the male to kill a female.

+1 one other posts

I just want it to be known that betta breeding should be left to the extremely experienced aquarist, specifically in betta care. It is a very complex process.

yea i know i dont intend to breed them ar at least not for a wile.
