I added an albino Oscar or similar to the 1 red o I already have. They seem to be fine together although wen the are swimming beside each other they seem to vibrate their tail. Is this good/normal? The albino rolls on its side almost submissive but not sure why.

Would I have known straight away, if they were not compatible? Or should it be alright.

Ps. The albino was starving, ate 2 prawns and pellets along with nearly 12 to 15 small catfish pellets.

They should both be fine, you will get such behavoir from most cichlid stocked aquariums. Can be either a little aggression or a male showing off to a female.

Thanx, I had thought they were alright but just making sure. Is there any way of telling the sex of the 2 of them. They are both around 5/6 inches

Post a pic of both, that would help someone sex them for you

its very hard to sex an oscar without venting it to be 100%.

also i would be very cautious for a couple of weeks at least as they could kick off at any time. fingers crossed they get on fine but i hope you have a back up plan for one of them if it goes wrong

So its a few weeks on and Alan and Oscar are doin great, no fighting. Only at meal timez.

Its been 8 days! 7 days constitute a week  So its been a week. To be fair if they are still getting along thats great, i'd still be wary. They are cichlids after all. Waiting to see pictures now, come on! :good:

i have tried to upload from my phone, no go. from my laptop, no go. only thing i can say is if you're on facebook i have a fish pics album on there, pics are from over the last 4/5 years, various tanks and setup's. look for Andrew 'Dru' flynn and i shall add you. soz for any inconvience folks.
