My fish were showing signs of internal parasites (caved in bodies although I fed plenty, clear stringy poop), so I've been treating for interal parasites with parasite guard by tetra and this is day 3. The fish are already doing so much better!

1st question how long should I treat? Box says I can treat every 48 hours up to 2 times after first treatment. I've already treated twice, should I treat again just to be safe?

2- Should I be feeding my skinny fish more often? I've been feeding 3 tiny meals a day these last 2 days to try and fatten them up, they still look super skinny though! Also what is the best for fattening them up? I've been feeding them frozen brine shrimp, flake food, and this frozen veggie mixture I bought that has tons of vits.

3- How many water changes should I be doing? I've been doing 25% like the box says every 2 days. Not sure if I should be doing more!

Thanks so much! :)

Follow the meds instructions,
Once the med has finished preform the water change. Add some new black carbon to your filter.

It's best to worm the fish again a few weeks later to make sure the internal parasite had been eradicated.

You should notice the fish starting to gain weight once the parasite has been eradicated.
I would also back up with a bacterial med. As internal parasites cause bacterial infections.
If the internal parasites has caused internal damage. The medication can be to late.

Soak the fish flakes in garlic juice to give the fish immune system a boost.

Good Luck.

Thank you so much! :D I'm going to do everything you suggest. Can I treat for bacterial infection at the same time as the parasite or should I wait and treat separately?

No. I would treat separately.

Once the wormer medication has been removed with black carbon. Preform a gravel vac and water change. Then you can add a bacterial medication to the tank.

If fish don't gain weight, and still look very thin, sunken in bellies.
Don't hesitate getting back to the forum.

:good:
