Hello,

I'm currently facing an issue where my mom keeps buying fish to please her grand-children. She ends up bringing them home and leaving them in the plastic bag.

I decided to do my manly duty and buy a freakin tank already!

With complete noobness, I somehow managed to get a bunch of goldfish and bottom feeders swimming around and not die on me, though unfortunately the two Angelfish didn't make it :(

Anyway, life was good, until mom bought 7 other fish. I have no idea about the names, so I'll just post the pics.

I dunked them into the tank and things looked ok in the begining.

Now though, 3 fish seem to keep on nipping at all the goldfish. I pulled them out and put them into a temporary tank until I could find some help. I found these forums, and realized I'm breaking about three thousand rules. I decided to post my question here and beg for some help :)

Since I have no idea what they are called, I'm gonna post some pics here:

The Goldfish?

These two types are incompatible? If so, what am I supposed to do? I can't really buy another tank just yet.

Thanks for the help, and I apologize for my complete lack of knowledge.

Oh dear.. time to tame the mother ;)

The goldfish are coldwater fish.

The fish at the bottom are tiger barbs.. Yes they love a bit of fin nipping (not good for the goldfish).. but also like tropical tanks with heaters.. i take it you dont have any of those..

To be honest, its probably best to take the barbs back. :(

Well great ...

In a twist of irony, I actually do have a heater, and I bought it for the goldfish.. shows how much I know.

I suppose I'll figure out a way to take them back. I'm not sure where she got them from.

Thanks!

Hi,

If all else fails you could make a divider to keep them seperate. In the long run goldfish grow a lot bigger and are really messy so if you can rehome the barbs it would be better.

Get your mum to join this forum or perhaps print off the relevant pinned topics for her to read.
