UPDATE to my shrimp tank. Went to sponge filter after waiting 2 weeks with both in tank to seed. Added some java moss and another floating plant. Also put black background. It's by window so i have slight algae issue. Plus I like with 3 panels blacked out. .67 cent black poster board from Wal-Mart and black duct tape.

They all seem healthy and are molting so hopefully babies soon

She's right, fish do have to like each other to breed. Cichlids like to choose their mates, as do marine butterflyfish and angelfish. Bettas and gouramis choose their mates. Fish that live in schools/ shoals have lots of choice for partners and usually have a preferred partner but not always. Birds are the same and prefer to choose their partner.

Having slight algae issues in shrimp tank so I got a bristlenose pleco today to help me with it

If you’re trying to breed the shrimp, the bristlenose pleco May eat the fry. An otocinclus might be a better choice If you feel you need an algae eater.

Good luck with breeding your shrimp, I have ghost shrimp and have had a few babies but I am thinking of giving up on my shrimp tank.

Have you tried cherries? I've heard ghosts are harder to breed

I told my twins. It is super cool having the entire life cycle for young kids to watch and care for.
