Hi all,

new to this forum and new to fishkeeping... The tank I have is 3ft by 1ft by 1ft

I inherited a tank about 2 years ago now with 2 fish a plec of some description

and

The other has since passed away.

The plec behaviour seems to to be strange.

- Swimming upside down on the surface of the tank
- lots of thrashing all times of the tank day night cycle
- in my opinion snapping at other fish in the tank (re - populated)
- used to hide at every motion outside the tank. now comes out all the time when seeing motion

sorry quick post so not much detail. Hope someone can help :)

Indeed a strange pleco. -_-

j/k...he's a synodontis. See if you can find him here...my guess is S. angelicus, but I dunno..dorsal seems a different shape...?

Perhaps someone else can help you on the behavior change. What are the tankmates? Some are known for swimming upside-down, USD cats...

Syno's often swim upside down, it's no big deal. Skimming the surface may imply there is not enough oxygen in the tank OR that he's not getting enough to eat. I would believe the latter because that would also explain the nibbling on tank mates. Over all, they're fun, active fish for the owner....but they're a bit obnoxious towards the tankmates. I have one who lives with large African cichlids and it's a riot how bothered they get with him.
