mrs biffster said its a green sev

Both are Heros severus, the one with the more red to its eye is possible a Rio Negro, I would suspect the other one with the pinkish tinge to the lips could be a heros severus sp. Temi, they have these in a shop near me and I would kill for them (well not really but I would REALLY like them)

They dont look to be the more common "green" severum

Take a look on this site, you will see what I mean about the pink lips of the temi

Are they a hard to get variety. Saying that in Northern Ireland its hard to get anything. Are you able to tell the sex. The smaller one has a bit of spotting on its gill plates. Is £35 each a reasonable price we paid the same for the Rotkeil

I cant see to clearly on the video to be honest to sex them, but watching again I would say they are both Temi, not seen very often at all, the ones in the shop by me they are asking £35 for too. Wills is the best person to tell you about the Temi :good:

Hi yeah these are true Heros Severus - I would say atapbo (Spelling) rather than temi as they have more red and a more olive base where as Temi have a whitish base with not so much red.

The one with spotting on the gill plates will be the male.

I have a male who is great! Brilliant characters and nice species - I wouldnt get a pair in anything less than about 100 gallons though or if you have 2 tanks around 60-70 gallons to split them after breeding?

Severums are quite diverse in colouration I had to walk away from a Belum severum today and still kind of regretting it. But last time I mixed severums it went badly :(

Brilliant fish to have as lone specimens though :) What size is your tank?

 Told you Wills would know exactly

Appreciate the advice. We have a 450 litre, 260 litre and 100 litre quarantine tank which im afraid ive had to stick them in for the moment. they,ll be going into the 450 litre. They have coloured up more since i brought them home. Beautiful fish. Any advise you feel would help would be much apprecciated.

Ah right excellent! I would keep them in the 450 when they come out of quarantine then if things get heated move one over the the 260 :)

A few days of good water and food will cheer them up :) Severums are famous for sulking but like I say good food and food water with a bit of attention will bring them round :)

How long would you suggest for quarantine. We got them from our usual lfs and theyve had them in quarantine for one month already. Weve never had any problems with the health of there fish before apart from the odd outbreak of whitespot.

Ah right well to be honest if your happy to add them now add them - upto you really if your ready to add them and happy they have no signs of illness then go for it :) You have multiple tanks so your well prepared to move fish around if problems arise :)
