I bought this cichlid back in November I can't remember the name of it what so ever.

I want to look up some info about it.

This is him when he was small in November:

His rate of growth has been very fast. gone from less than 2 inches to about 5/6 inches now in less than 2 months
This is him now:

He's gone from being the smallest in the tank by miles to now being bigger than the rainbow cichlid's,GT and the JD:

I also have another of the same cichlid I bought at the same time. they were the same size but this one is now twice the others length.

Any ideas what he is?

I would guess from the round belly and fin shape its female too.

oh, thanks for that. I presumed he/she was male because he grew so much faster than the other one and because he/she has got quite an attitude.

I hope it is female as the males seem to grow quite large having just looked it up :/

yup defo a Geophagus Brazilliensis
lovely fish

I had a group of 4 the dominant male & female were the larger of the group, females are just as bolshy as the males, well mine were.

Hang on. I thought Geos grew slowly? If they grow this fast then i may have issues with my 5 that are currently under 2".

Mine look different to these, but were sold as Geo Brasilliensis.

Brazilliensis grow fairly quick James, get a piccy of them.

Haha, will get some pics when i can. They are at my gf's. Looks like my 6x2x2 may be sooner rather than later haha ;)
