Id My Apistos :)

I bought 2 of these apisto something or others.. Don't know what they are.. Some sort of nannocara or I don't know..

Anyways, here are the pics.. Larger one I'm assuming is the male, smaller the female. Hopefully they will spawn someday.

Hi there,

You have Nannacara anomala, otherwse called the Golden Eyed Dwarf Cichlid (still a dwarf South American cichlid that shares territory with some apisto species).

And, yes, it is a pair (in your pictures the female is showing faint banding on the flanks, this will intensify as she comes into breeding condition).

Sweet thanks.. She had jet black vertical lines when she first came out of hiding.

I hadn't seen her in a few days and thought he might have killed her.

Maybe I'll try doing a little cooler water change and see if I can get them to spawn.

I'm liking these guys so much, I think I will add a pair of different apistos to my 40g tank.
