So looks like I got ick. 2 of my phantom tetra have white spots on them and I think my geos may be getting some. The geos are still rubbing on the sand, rocks and wood. I am in the process of increasing temp to 86-88 and have add an air stone to increase o2 levels. I would like to not use salt or meds. Is there any thing else I should be doing?

Thanx

So what's going to actually kill the parasite, then?

So do you know the life cycle of ick, then?

Yes.

Whilst increasing the temperature will increase the speed of the life cycle, I don't get the logic that they will die before they can reinfect another fish. It just means that the fish will be reinfected quicker, and therefore have less chance to recover from the previous infection. In my humble opinion, there needs to be something to actually kill the protozoa. Some people use salt, I use meds.
