So, I have had my aquarium a couple weeks now, and pretty well done making changes to the environment.

It has been a few days since I corrected my temperature after zeroing out my thermometer, and it's also been a few days since my Kuhli's have been as active as they were.

I am sure raining the heat didn't cause the Ich, if that's what it is, but it sure has settled the Kuhli's down.

I finally got the opportunity to take a good look at one of them this morning, and it appears he may have Ich.

Am I correct?

I think it likely is, I have noticed a couple spots on my YoYo Loach as well, and he and a few of my Molly have been side-swiping things at random.

I don't see any ich on the Molly's, but 2 of them are white, 2 orange ones always hide, and one black one has white spots anyways so would be hard to notice. The full black Molly has no visible sign of Ich.

I recall reading somewhere that loaches can be helpful in identifying Ich early, so as long as I recall that correctly, I have caught it just in time to eradicate it before it becomes a problem.

I have now begun the slow process of increasing the tank temperature towards 86°.

86 is a lot, but up to you I guess. ive never had to deal with ich :p

I think I will go 86 for 2-3 days then down to 84 unless it persists then back up for a couple more days.

Any fish that can't handle the heat will be moved away from my loaches, or the loaches will have a separate tank to be cured in next time so the community tank can be properly medicated, if it ever happens again that is.

I have a very small (2 gallon?) Tank I could use to heat treat the loaches and medicate the main tank if I wanted to go that route, but with the heat being up to 81° now my fish almost seem more comfortable than they did at 77°. My poor rubbernose probably isn't too happy, but he will have to deal with it for awhile I guess.

After I stocked my tank, my fish had a fairly aggressive ich out break, mostly on my neon tetras. It went away with daily water changes, salt, and the addition of an airstone. It took a couple weeks, and the disease went through two roughly week long cycles, but I didn't lose any fish.

I have crept my temp up to 84° and climbing. I have notice Ich spots on my Rubbernose Pleco now and as well I think attached to the glass. I have read that 89.5° will kill the Ich, bit I won't be climbing that high. Once I reach 86° I will hold steady for 24-48 hours and then drop back to 84° and watch to see if the Ich spots disappear or persist.

Edit: Ich doesn't grow on glass, it looks more like tiny bubbles stuck on the glass with bacteria attached to them, swaying with the flow of the water.

You whole tank and all the fish need to be treated,

Once I reach 86° I will hold steady for 24-48 hours
I would keep it at 86 for 36 hours, I have used the heat method on Kuhli loahes, BN plecos, assorted tetras and a Betta, No casualties.

You should see results in 12 to 24 hours.

The results I see are that the Ich has not gotten any worse.

The tank has been sitting at roughly 85° for 2 days now, the kuhli loaches have been hiding since the heat started climbing, everybody else is out and active.

I still see the same Ich spots on the YoYo, possibly a few less, but no more.

Have hit 86° for the last 10-12 hours, will drop back to 84° this time tomorrow.

Lost one molly today, all the others seem healthy still, and the belly - upper was one that, while not so much of a run and hider like a few of the other ones, has never seemed up to par health-wise. She was generally more dosile than the rest, and her balloon belly wasn't ever as pronounced as the rest, didn't look much like a balloon belly at all.

My YoYo loach has been flashing the sand and gravel and rocks quite a bit, still has some white spots, but overall activity hasn't changed much besides maybe hiding a bit more than usual.

No sign of Ich on Molly's, Harley's or my Bristlenose, and from the glimpse I have been able to get of 1 Kuhli and my Rubbernose, there doesn't seem to be a visual indication of Ich anymore, although I haven't seen the Kuhli I saw with it at first.

No more ich on any loaches, temerature very slowly coming down to 84° for the next week before another very slow drop of 1° each day or 2 u til i hit 77° again.

Good job.
