I have never really breed anything before and i want to try something new so i would like to know what are the best livebeaers to get and breed and how would i go about doing it i have a free 10g tank open so thats what i have to work with

Thanks for ur help :)

guppies are te easiest, i would reccomend 2 females to one male they have around 28 day pregnancy and are usually very prolific breeders.. but if you are succesful i would reccomend a seperate fry tank shou8ld you wish to raise the babies..

good luck

Guppies are the easiest but their fry are also the weakest I'm afraid, being a beginner you may not want to lose quite a few fry as they grow up. Mollies babies are probably the strongest simply because they are born the biggest and thankfully mollies haven't been too inbred over the years. Really you can go with any of the regular livebearers you want, mollies, platies, guppies and swordtails -> They're all easy and you should have babies within a month with all of them

if you have a dedicated breeding tank then you needent loose that many fry i had a 1 foot tank when i had them breed i used a breeding trap and i took the mother out after it had all calmed down as she may have eaten them. but that was all before the internet if i was going to do it again i would look up my now favorite breeding page . i dont try to breed fish i just keep two of them and sometimes they decide to breed its knowing what is best to do when one of them starts to look a little on the large side that matters.

Ok so if i was doing guppies then how many would i need and how do i need to set up the tank

Thanks :D

ps how would i take care of the fry o yea and what about those little red terta are they easy to breed i like schooling fish

Hi Canthus

As Codpeice said
guppies are te easiest, i would reccomend 2 females to one male

This is the best place to start. Set them up in a well planted tank, and nature will do the rest. Feed the young on any baby food. If you can get brine shrimp eggs, then these are the best, (when they have been hatched).

As for tetras, they need a bit more skill. Check out the web page Breeding tetras

Hope this helps.
