Fish Fanatic
I was gifted the golden gourami from someone on these forums about 6 months ago. All has been fine and hunky dorey until about 4 weeks ago when there was a right commotion in the tank and the golden gourami had flipped out, hit the hood and swam into the plants at the back of the tank. i presumed he had had a bad fright so i turned the lights off and covered the tank to keep it extra dark. A week later he did the same and I blamed the albino red tail shark that shared the tank with him. I thought he'd had another fright. then last week he hit the top of the tank at least twice and i thought enough was enough and I took him out and put him in my smaller community tank to see if that helped. He only shares it with a shrimp, 2 neons and 3 albino corys (tiny ones). All went well until 2 days ago he freaked again almost knocking the lid open. i picked him up with the net as this time he appeared more damaged than before and was curled up at the bottom of the tank. he recovered very well however and quickly and was eating flake straight away. Now on to today. Ten minutes ago he done the same and I nudged him to the top of the tank again where he took a huge gulp and was fine again.. Its like he gets a huge fright but i know for a fact this time there was nothing happened. Nothing was near him and there was no movement in the room at all. Why i
s he getting spooked. Should I find him another home? He's a stunner and I don't want to let him go but his needs come first.
